In your 68th year of independence, I wish you all the best for the future.
I know that there are still a lot of room for improvements, but we’re all working on it together.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to contribute a lot for you, especially in the agricultural and youth sector because I love you that much.
Yes, it’s all because my dream still revolves around this country.
As youth, we should have high nationalism.
We should be proud being an Indonesian, living in this independent country where democracy is at its best.
Don’t feel inferior to other countries, Indonesia still is better in some aspect than others. Trust me. It didn’t take long to figure that out, just after years of living abroad and traveling. *yeah right*
Have you ever wonder why other countries called us “The Sleeping Giant”? They see the potential in us, they see what wonders that we can do. With Indonesia having one of the world’s youngest demographic profiles which 60% are below the age of 30, plenty of natural resources and one of the biggest consumers in the world. If that giant is woken up, we’re a pretty powerful one actually.
Keep you head up high, Indonesians!
However, don’t forget about the people needing us the most.
The farmers. The veterans. The real Indonesian heroes that really need our helping hand IMO. Look at your surrounding and see, have empathy and a helping hand. Find what you can do to make their lives easier.
We as youth need to find ways to make living in Indonesia better. We need to stop all the tawuran and violent nonsense that happened during protest. Stop asking for so much from Indonesia when all you do is not significant enough to make a better future. Stop pointing fingers and start from ourselves. We need to take the initiative and start doing positive things.
After all, it’s not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
Long live Indonesia.
Even though I plan to study abroad, I promise I’ll come back, because the things I get and do there, it’s only for you.
For a better you.
MERDEKA! :’)
